FUTURE PROJECTS

Vuyisile Mini Square

The Vuyisile Mini Square project marks the start of major change in the Baakens Valley precinct.

As Phase One of a long-term plan, it sets the groundwork for more public life, investment, and renewal across the city. This includes a revamp of theVuyisile Mini Square in front of the Port Elizabeth City Hall linked to the overall facelift of the Baakens River Valley precinct.

The square is named after Vuyisile Mini, a unionist, activist, and singer. This space will reflect his legacy and vision for freedom and expression.

Stretching from Town Hall to the Baakens River, the precinct area will be designed for walking, safety, and accessibility. Phase one will start with the square, the second will be walkway connections between the valley and the square, and then developers will move on to renovating the riverside.

The node includes nine distinct areas

The design and development phase is complete.

Next steps include testing and feedback.
